A Snapshot of the Game

The premise of 4 Pics 1 Word is fairly simple: In each level, the game shows you four pictures. Below these pictures are several letters and some blank letter spaces. All of the pictures relate to each other in some way. You need to figure out how they relate and then make a word that matches the theme.

The word can only use the available letters, and it needs to fit in the blank spaces exactly. This means that 4 Pics 1 Word is one part word association, one part anagram solver.

You complete the level by finding the right word, earning yourself coins in the process. You can use these coins to make in-game purchases that can help you solve difficult puzzles.

Daily Puzzles in 4 Pics 1 Word

The Daily Puzzles in this game are similar to the daily puzzles in Wordscapes

Every day, the game generates a new puzzle that is unrelated to the main game’s series of puzzles. Completing multiple days’ worth of these puzzles unlocks stickers. New stickers and themes are added to the game each month. Think of these stickers as trophies. They are proof of your success. But, more importantly, they earn you extra coins to use in the main game.

Seven-Letter Puzzles and Hard Levels

There are two main ways that 4 Pics 1 Word tries to challenge you: the hard levels and the seven-letter puzzles.

  • The hard levels use words that tend to be more obscure. And, the connections between the four pictures are often more subtle.

  • The seven-letter puzzles are challenging simply because they are the longest words 4 Pics 1 Word throws at you.

Everything about these two types of puzzles is designed to keep you confused about what the correct word is. To that end, if you find yourself getting stuck on a level for too long, seeking help from our 4 Pics 1 Word answers tool is a good idea.

Tricks to Seeing the Bigger Picture

Most of the levels in 4 Pics 1 Word are more fun than difficult. They’re designed to let you enjoy that “aha!” moment when you figure out which word matches all four pictures. That said, some puzzles can seem impossible. For those puzzles, a little help from our mobile app might be necessary.

Try these tips to get past the pics that have you stumped.

  • Ask your friends for help: The game gives you the option to message your friends and ask them to help solve the puzzles. Asking someone else to look at the puzzle from a different perspective can make a huge difference.

  • Use the Joker: A Joker is a power-up you can use to reveal one letter from the puzzle’s keyword. They cost 60 coins each. Use them when you need some help getting a puzzle started, but don’t rely on them.

  • Watch specific ads: You earn coins when you complete a puzzle, but the game sometimes offers to double (or even triple) the amount if you watch an ad. Sometimes, watching an ad is not worth it. You typically earn four coins for beating an easier puzzle. When you complete a hard level, though, the minimum is 16 coins. Watching one ad to get 32 coins is a fair trade.

  • Complete Daily Puzzles: Don’t ignore the daily puzzles. You don’t have to be obsessed with completing them every day, but earning a few extra stickers is a great way to earn extra coins.

More Games to Help Escape From Reality

How much fun you have with 4 Pics 1 Word is limited only by your desire to keep playing. That’s understandable. It’s a great game, but everyone needs variety. If you want to find another unique game to play, try testing your word unscrambling skills with Words Story and its story-focused approach.

P.S. The answer for the puzzle above is "hungry."
