Searching for eight-letter English words with only one specific letter can return a ton of results, so knowing how to narrow things down can be a big help. For instance, there are over 16,000 8-letter words using “A.” That can be a little overwhelming.

Keep these tips in mind to refine your search:

• Choose where you want the letter. Try searching for a letter in a specific spot in the 8-letter word. For example, there are only 1,765 eight-letter “A” words, so it helps to search for a word that starts with the letter.
