1. Enter any letters you happen to need to use. You can have the tool search for 4-letter words that contain, start with, or end with certain letters.
2. Click “Generate 4-Letter Word List” when you’re ready to see your results.
3. You’ll instantly get a list of 4-letter words using these letters. You can sort alphabetically or reverse alphabetically.

As you search, you may find that using specific letters can still give you a ton of words. If you only know one letter a word contains, you can end up getting a lot of results. For example, when it comes to words with “I,” 4-letter options are plentiful. In fact, there are over a thousand.

These tips can help you narrow things down when you have a lot of results:

• Try different placements for letters. Experiment with placing the letter you know in different parts of the 4-letter word. For instance, there are fewer than 100 4-letter words that start with “I.”
• Add two filters together. Choose a letter that you want the word to contain, but then add another filter to narrow it down more. For example, there are only 52 words that start with “C” and contain “I.”
• Think in combinations. Instead of thinking about a single letter you need to use, try making 4-letter words with letters in combination. If you specify that a word should contain “is,” our tool will return every 4-letter word with “is” in it. That’s 107 results.
