Words with the Letters XV

Words with X and V can feel like they’re hard to find. After all, these are two of the least common letters in the English language.  Put them together, though, and you’ll form words with V and X like VIXEN, VERTEX and OVERLAX. Not that you should start getting too lazy about the whole situation, of course. Two high value letters lend themselves to playing some high value words. Read more about words with X and V.

More About Words With X and V

You may be surprised to learn that there are actually many English words with X and V in them. But, what words start with X and V? As it turns out, there aren’t any. Indeed, you’ll find only one valid word in Scrabble and Words With Friends with the XV combination exactly in that order: POXVIRUS. No playable words contain the letters VX together like that.

Start moving the letters around, however, and you’ll unlock a veritable bounty of options. Take VEX as a great base word. You can conjugate that into VEXING, VEXES and VEXED. Going further, a couple of words end in VEX too. Have you ever heard of CONVEX lenses? They’re used in eyeglasses for correcting farsightedness. SILVEX is a type of solid herbicide formerly used for weed control.

When you’re ready to broaden your horizons again, explore these two letters separately by reviewing words with X and words with V. There’s no need to dwell in an EXCLAVE for too long, surviving on GRAVLAX alone, after all.
